Beyond My Smile is an autobiography about my childhood sexual abuse and mental illness. I am a sexual abuse survivor of eight long years. I wrote this book to elucidate the awareness of sexual abuse, mental illness, and neglect. There are so many stories that are untold or have been ignored. I finally came to the conclusion that I will not carry this burden anymore. I want to tell and share my story of how I was raped by my step-grandfather for eight years. I am hoping to inspire someone to speak up and embrace their voice and not to be afraid.
